JPM/SMBS/PEDCS/RNTS/SEPS Meeting - Charleston, rescheduled for May 2014

The 61st JANNAF Propulsion Meeting / 42nd Structures and Mechanical Behavior / 38th Propellant and Explosives Development and Characterization / 29th Rocket Nozzle Technology / 27th Safety and Environmental Protection Joint Subcommittee Meeting, scheduled for December 9-12, 2013 in Charleston, South Carolina, is being postponed and rescheduled for May 19-22, 2014. This date change has been necessitated by DoD travel restrictions during the continuing resolution set to expire on 15 January.

Abstracts are being solicited for the JPM portion of this meeting. Visit the meeting website for the JPM call for papers. Abstracts are due  by February 3, 2014. If you are interested in submitting an abstract for either SMBS, PEDCS, RNTS, or SEPS, you are encouraged to first contact the Mission Area Chairs to inquire whether additional abstracts are needed. Mission Area Chair contact information can be found on the subcomittee pages of the May meeting website.

If you are an author/presenter, or a session or workshop chair, please be aware that we do not anticipate any changes to the sessions that have already been scheduled, other than a change to the date, and possibly the room assignment and start time. However, if you find that you are no longer able to participate because of a conflict with the new meeting dates, please let us know as soon as possible, by contacting Shelley Cohen at scohen@cpiac.jhu.edu.

Authors and Chairs should check the meeting website for updates to due dates and deadlines for the upload of papers and presentations.

For those who were planning to attend the meeting in December, if you have already registered, we will retain your registration funds to be applied to the new conference dates, unless you notify us that you require a refund. To contact us regarding your registration, please email scohen@cpiac.jhu.edu or call 410/992-7302 x215.

The hotel reservation site for the May 2014 meeting will open in the near future.  Visit the hotel page of the meeting website for more information.

Although the need to reschedule the December meeting stems from the Government shutdown in October and the pending vote on the same issues, the good news is that we can anticipate great weather in Charleston in May, when average temperatures are in the 70’s. Most importantly, we can anticipate a productive meeting with robust attendance and opportunities for meaningful connections with colleagues in the community.

Please visit our meeting website at https://www2.cpiac.jhu.edu/meetings/May2014/pages/index.html for more information.  Be aware that we are in the process of updating this site.
