About Oklahoma City

The May 2024 meeting will be held at the Sheraton Oklahoma City Downtown in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The hotel will serve as the location of all sleeping rooms for JANNAF attendees, as well. While staying at the hotel, you'll be in the heart of downtown OKC with easy access on foot or via the OKC Streetcar to much that the city has to offer.

What to Do in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City, or "The Big Friendly" is known for its authenticity, openness, and overflowing kindness. As a city at the center of innovation and entrepreneurship but also steeped in Western and Native American heritage, the city's other nickname, "The Modern Frontier", is well suited.

In addition to being home to Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, other nearby points of interest include:

  • The Boathouse District is the official U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Site for rowing and canoe/kayak. Riversport, located in the Boathouse District, gives anyone interested in outdoor adventure the opportunity to go whitewater rafting and kayaking, climb a six-story adventure course, sail down several high-speed spiral slides, fly 700 feet across the Oklahoma River on a zip line, and more.
  • Scissortail Park is the city's newest outdoor recreation space, bringing Oklahoma's natural beuty to life in a welcoming and playful environment, and it's just steps away from the core of downtown Oklahoma City.
  • The First Americans Museum showcases the collective histories of 39 distinctive First American Nations in Oklahoma today. The museum includes a full service restaurant with unique Native inspired cuisine, and a museum store selling authentic hand-made items. It is located less than a 10 minute drive from the hotel.
  • Bricktown Entertainment District, a former warehouse district  filled with various entertainment options, restaurants and nightlife, is located just a three minute drive, five minute walk, or three minute streetcar ride from the hotel. Several other districts in OKC, with varied dining, nightlife, and shopping, can be reached by the OKC Streetcar, a great and low cost way to explore the city.
  • Myriad Botanical Gardens is just around the corner from the Sheraton Oklahoma City Downtown, and is one of Oklahoma City's most beautiful and vibrant garden and park spaces. Grab some food to go and enjoy a picnic during the lunch break on a nice day. Join a free yoga class or concert in the park one evening. Or experience the Crystal Bridge Conservatory during your down time.
